Kathyn found me as a professional on the NeoGenesis website. She was dealing with a slew of chronic skin conditions and needed support on her journey.

With frequent visits to her dermatologist, Kathryn was using ivermectin for rosacea and topical steroids for eczema. She would find relief with medical treatments like IPL but never with topical skin care products.

Kathryn’s skin conditions were really affecting her everyday life. Every time she would have an event coming up, she would live in fear that her skin would bubble up, become hot and painful. She was terrified that her skin would react, even in front of her loving husband, and this constant worry was taking a big toll on her.

BEFORE HER SKIN ANALYSIS

Kathryn’s skin would look oily but feel wet. Her skin was very reactive in that her skin would become red and break out frequently depending on the food she ate, if she felt stressed and what she applied to her skin.

When we met, Kathryn was using the CeraVe Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser to keep her breakouts at bay, followed by the 4% Benzoyl Peroxide Acne Treatment and Aveeno Calm and Restore Oat Gel Moisturizer (with ivermectin 1% compounded in) to manage her rosacea. She was diligent with her sun protection, using the ColorScience Even Up Clinical Pigment Perfector Spf 50. She also tried Azelaic Acid 15% Gel but really wanted a simple routine that would keep her skin calm and balanced.

DURING HER SKIN ANALYSIS

Just in how Kathryn described her skin and knowing she had a confirmed diagnosis of rosacea from her dermatologist, we knew for certain that she needed help managing her type 2 rosacea.

My suspicion was that her topical antibiotic, steroid and use of actives like azelaic acid was creating barrier disruption that was leading to changes in enzyme activity and increasing her risk of creating apro-inflammatory form of the antimicrobial peptide cathelicidin. This continual state of inflammation was causing her skin to look oily but feel wet due to the fluid accumulating in her epidermis. When this fluid dries on her skin, she would experience burning and stinging sensations that would be quite painful. Her type of rosacea is often linked to an allergic response, filaggrin gene and essential fatty acid deficiency, depleted calcium levels, candida and irritating skin care products.

In addition to her barrier disruption, we suspected a few other leading causes such as leaky gut so we knew we would need to focus on her gut health after her pregnancy. Being a pregnant mama of four, we wanted to keep things simple and practical for Kathryn to implement.

TWO MONTHS INTO HER NEW SKIN CARE ROUTINE

We kept a few products in Kathryn’s skin care routine that were working well, like her La Roche Posay Toleriane Cleanser and ColorScience sunscreen. We replaced all of her other products with the NeoGenesis Recovery and Barrier Renewal Cream to keep it simple and feed her skin more of the molecules that she naturally produces in higher qualities when she was younger and her skin was calm and healthy.

At Kathryn’s second Virtual Maintenance Appointment, she shared that “Overall I definitely have fewer blemishes! And my redness has decreased a lot. And my skin doesn't burn any more. And I'm way less greasy!!”

It’s incredible what a few simple topical changes can do to repair the skin barrier! Kathryn’s two month progress photos show just how quickly progress can be made when you have a personalized skin care routine working alongside a professional who has experience with your skin condition.

I was so relieved for Kathryn, just hearing how much more comfortable her skin is after switching to a skin care routine appropriate for treating her type 2 rosacea.

CONTINUED SUPPORT AND PROGRESS

Kathryn had her baby girl and was busy with life over the next 6 months. She reached out and shared: “Just wanted to update you. I've had lots of ups and downs since I'm postpartum. Lots of inconsistency with food and sleep and stress. The good news is, my skin recovers WAY faster if I have a flare up.”

This was a huge relief because for Kathryn, flare-ups would take so long to recover from that she would be living in fear from it all. Now, she knows and trusts that the products she is using will help her skin to recover so much more quickly!

This is the power of the NeoGenesis S2RM technology, helping to make the skin more resilient by simply mimicking what mother nature intended when repairing and rejuvenating the skin.

Kathryn and I connect every three months or so, to update her skin care routine and to offer support on her gut healing journey. We’ve been able to introduce the NeoGenesis MB-1 Probiotic Mist for microbiome support. We’re also working towards a more consistent use of the NeoGenesis Mandelic Acid 8% and the Skin Restore to assist with scarring and hyperpigmentation.

LIVING WITH ROSACEA BUT WITHOUT FEAR

Managing rosacea is challenging! Flare-ups can happen frequently with any changes to your lifestyle, diet, products and environment. Luckily with the right skin care routine and holistic habits, Kathryn’s flare-ups are so much less volatile and they subside so much quicker than ever before. She knows exactly how to calm a flare-up quickly and feels more in control and confident when it comes to her skin.

In Kathryn's words:

“Christine’s support and encouragement plus the NeoGenesis skincare has been the final piece of the puzzle for me! My skin is still improving every month. I had tried every product in the book (prescription and over the counter) and had lost hope that my skin would stabilize. Neogenesis has been worth every penny and I’m so glad I took the leap of faith to try it!!”
